Editor’s Pick, Meet the Makers: Celebrate the Craft There’s as much attention on who grows and produces the ingredients as who prepares them at the 23rd annual Celebrate the Craft, taking place October 18. Against the coastal backdrop of The Lodge at Torrey Pines, an expansive lineup of chefs from Southern California and Baja comes together with regional farmers, ranchers, fishers, vintners, brewers, and artisans for an afternoon devoted to seasonality and collaboration. This year marks a new chapter under The Lodge’s Executive Chef Eric Sakai and A.R. Today, the event pairs the Legends of Surfing Invitational with an oncology symposium and has raised more than $14 million for cancer research and innovation. Just 12 days after Kevan M. Shokat, PhD, received the 2026 Rell Sunn Award at this year’s gathering, the FDA approved Rasonque (daraxonrasib), a first-in-class targeted therapy for metastatic pancreatic cancer.
